Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27, 2010) - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a small community that lies on that portion of the island of Montreal named the West Island. People who aren't familiar with they mistakenly believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. However it is the West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. There is an argument that it was the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. The first goal was to become a performer, but she simply outgrew her dancing partners. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I outgrew male partners I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, which is what Brugel did. A drama teacher in her high school was able to push to Brugel into her direction that she required. She was encouraged to take part in her school's production. A teacher suggested that she play a character in the annual school production. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel was offered roles in over 60 shows on both screens, receiving the most media attention, when she was offered the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel, the only Canadian of the season 1 cast of the show and was only seen on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
