Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27, 2010 Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on that portion of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a huge region that runs from Lachine up to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. She was determined to become an elite dancer, however due to an explosive growth spurt she outgrew all of her dance friends. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 foot 1 inch tall. After I outgrew my male companions, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting. In the case of Brugel it was a suggestion by an instructor in drama at high school that pushed her in the right direction. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual production. A teacher suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual play. The show led her to receive being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years since then, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 plays on both small and large screens drawing the most attention when she landed the character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen at times.
