Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal known as the West Island. For those who don't know, the West Island frequently think that it's a separate island off the coast of Montreal However, in reality it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there although her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. She was determined to become a professional dancer but due to a rapid increase in her height, she surpassed all of her dance partners. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 feet 1 inch tall. As soon as I was able to outgrow male friends, I began to stop. Former dancers often turn into acting which is what Brugel did. The drama instructor at her high school pushed to Brugel into her direction that she required. Her teacher recommended her to audition to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program, where she graduated at the age of 20 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since then, she's appeared in 60+ productions both with big screen and smaller ones. The most notable was her notoriety when she got her role as Rita of the acclaim-winning series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor to appear in the season 1 which was only seen in a few episodes.
